How we work

Six steps. The first three happen before we design anything.

Most agencies start at step four — the visible, billable part. That’s why so many websites look fine and do nothing. Our process front-loads the thinking, so by the time we design, the hard questions are already answered.

01

Ask

“What are you actually trying to do?”

The first conversation is about your business, not our services. What are you trying to achieve? Who needs to use the site? What’s the current one costing you in missed enquiries? We ask the awkward questions early, while they’re still cheap to answer.

  • You get: a shared understanding of the problem
02

Understand

“Where are enquiries really won and lost?”

We look at your audience, your market, your analytics and your current site. We find where visitors drop off and what actually drives contact. Sometimes the brief you arrived with changes here — and that’s a good sign, not a bad one.

  • You get: research, an audit and a clear picture
03

Decide

“What earns its place, and what doesn’t?”

Together we set the goals, the scope and the priorities. Every proposed feature has to justify itself against the goal. This is where we save you money — by not building the things you don’t need, and doing the things you do properly.

  • You get: an agreed plan and honest scope
04

Design

“Is the structure right before we decorate it?”

We design the information architecture first, then wireframes, then the visual design — mobile-first, with real content, never lorem ipsum. You see and shape the work as it develops. Nothing goes to build on a hunch.

  • You get: wireframes, designs and a design system
05

Build

“Is it fast, accessible and yours to run?”

We build a fast, accessible, maintainable site — usually a WordPress block theme — and populate it properly. We test across devices, check performance and accessibility against real standards, and train your team before anything goes live.

  • You get: a finished, tested, documented website
06

Improve

“What did launch teach us?”

After launch we measure how the site performs against the goals we set in step one, and keep refining it. The questions don’t stop when the site goes live — that’s when the most useful ones finally have real answers.

  • You get: measurement, care and considered change

“Most websites look fine and do nothing. The difference is almost never the code — it’s whether anyone asked the right questions first.”

Start at step one.

Every good project begins with a conversation and a few honest questions. There’s no charge for that, and no obligation after it.
